Jakarta, ECNETNews – The Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) initiated by the Government has been in operation for three days, starting from Monday, January 6, 2025.
The program aims to meet the nutritional needs of children and pregnant women, making the food menu a crucial factor. Not only should the meals be healthy, but they must also provide balanced nutrition. Continue reading for further information!
However, many members of the public are questioning why the MBG menu does not include milk. A medical influencer clarified this during a media briefing on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
“There is no milk because we are now following the concept of balanced nutrition,” the spokesperson explained.
“If anyone out there insists that milk must be included, we need to clarify that we have moved beyond the Old Order that adhered to the ‘4 Healthy 5 Perfect’ guideline; we are now in the current era of Balanced Nutrition,” the spokesperson added.
In the Balanced Nutrition concept, milk is categorized as part of animal protein. However, it can be substituted with higher quality, non-industrial options at a lower cost.
“This ‘Plate of My Food’ concept can serve as an affordable template, costing only around Rp10,000,” the spokesperson noted.
“For example, in Javanese culture, it isn’t always about rice; it could be lontong, tempeh, and vegetables, with a piece of banana. Alternatively, you can have rice with grilled chicken, salad, and melon. People from Eastern Indonesia might opt for sambal with fish, boiled cassava, and papaya,” they elaborated.
