England’s rising star, Mimi Rhodes, has secured her second Ladies European Tour title at the Joburg Ladies Open, marking an impressive back-to-back win in her rookie season.
Heading into the final round with a three-shot lead, Rhodes faced competition from South Africa’s Casandra Alexander and Ireland’s Lauren Walsh, who were tied for second. Displaying nerves of steel, Rhodes delivered a strong performance at Modderfontein Golf Club, scoring three birdies and a two-under round of 71 to finish the tournament with a winning total of 14 under par, one stroke ahead of Alexander.
Despite a slight misstep on the 18th hole that nearly led to a playoff, Rhodes maintained her composure, securing par to clinch the victory.
“It’s honestly not sunk in yet; I’m still in shock,” the 23-year-old expressed. “I’m really on a high and lost for words. I’ve been working so hard for this moment. I can’t thank my family and friends back home and all my coaches enough—there are a lot of them!”
Rhodes further enthused, “I never would have imagined this. It’s a dream come true to perform so well early in my career. I can’t wait for the rest of the season to keep this good golf going. Winning in another country and achieving my second win in a row has given me tremendous confidence moving forward.”
This latest victory follows her outstanding performance at the Ford Women’s NSW Open in Australia last month, solidifying her status as a formidable competitor on the tour. Rhodes joins the ranks of other notable players, like Linn Grant, who also achieved consecutive wins during their rookie seasons.
