SNL50: The Homecoming Concert marked a monumental celebration of Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary, broadcasting live from New York City’s iconic Radio City Music Hall. The star-studded event featured legendary performances from music and comedy giants, showcasing the show’s unparalleled influence on pop culture and music history.
Throughout the three-hour concert, fans were treated to a vibrant fusion of classic skits, unexpected cameos, and groundbreaking collaborations. Notably, David Byrne and Robyn graced the stage together, wearing coordinating oversized suits, as they delivered a stunning rendition of Robyn’s hit “Dancing on My Own.” Lady Gaga shone as she sat at the piano, humorously navigating a misstep in her performance of “Shallow” alongside Andy Samberg, before transitioning into a hilarious medley that included iconic Lonely Island tracks like “Dick in a Box” and “I’m on a Boat.”
The concert also featured the lively B-52’s performing “Love Shack,” joined by Fred Armisen, Bowen Yang, and Sarah Sherman. A special reunion for Nirvana unfolded with Post Malone taking the lead on vocals for the classic “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Cher wowed the audience with “If I Could Turn Back Time,” further enriching the memorable lineup.
Additional highlights included Devo’s energetic “Uncontrollable Urge” featuring Armisen, a mini-reunion of the Fugees with Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean performing “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” and a duet by Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard on “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Bill Murray joined Maya Rudolph and Cecily Strong for an emotional rendition of “You’re All I Need to Get By.”
