In response to the devastating California wildfires, the Los Angeles-based record label Leaving has launched a new digital compilation aimed at supporting affected artists. Titled Staying, this album features contributions from a diverse lineup of musicians including Samantha Urbani, Eddie Chacon, Sam Wilkes, Laraaji, Reggie Watts, André 3000, Samiyam, Brijean, and Julia Holter, among others. Curated by the label’s founder, the compilation will also be available in vinyl and cassette formats under the title Staying: Leaving Records Aid to Artists Impacted by the Los Angeles Wildfires.
Emmett Shoemaker, representing Leaving Records, stated that all proceeds from the album will be directed to individuals directly affected by the fires, with 50% earmarked for Los Angeles artists and music professionals in need. The remaining funds will assist displaced Black families and those impacted within the community. The allocation process will utilize existing music community aid resources to ensure fairness and accuracy.
Since the outbreak of the wildfires, various fundraising initiatives have emerged to support artists including Diiv’s Zachary Cole Smith and rapper Fat Tony. Organizations like BeyGood and MusiCares have joined the efforts by making donations for wildfire relief. A benefit concert is also scheduled for January 30, showcasing performances from major artists such as Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Furthermore, Nicholas Pedroza has curated a benefit compilation, 2025 LA Fire Relief Comp, aimed at supporting the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. This compilation features contributions from artists including They Are Gutting a Body of Water and Computerwife, and is part of the ongoing relief efforts for those affected by the wildfires.
