Two fatalities and multiple injuries were reported early Saturday morning following a shooting incident in downtown Minneapolis. The violence unfolded shortly before 2 a.m., prompting police to respond to reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers discovered five individuals with injuries: two men, aged 20 and 21, two teenage girls, aged 16 and 17, and a 21-year-old woman. Tragically, the two men succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital, while the remaining victims are expected to survive, with their injuries not deemed life-threatening.
Authorities have indicated that the shooting stemmed from a confrontation between different groups. One individual has been taken into custody on charges related to inciting a riot.
In response to the violence, law enforcement will enhance patrol efforts in the downtown area. This increase in presence will involve collaboration with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Transit Police, and local community organizations.
