Tune-Yards, the acclaimed art-rock band fronted by Merrill Garbus, is set to reissue their album Nikki Nack in honor of its 10th anniversary. The deluxe edition, featuring four brand-new tracks, will be available on streaming services starting August 9. Among these new tracks is a reimagined remix of “Water Fountain,” retitled “Water From Your Fountain,” crafted by Water From Your Eyes.
In conjunction with the digital reissue, Tune-Yards is releasing Behind the Behind of the Album, a compelling 28-page zine that delves into the creative process behind Nikki Nack. Co-designed by Garbus and collaborator Molly Styslinger, the zine showcases exclusive behind-the-scenes photographs, scans of Garbus’ lyric journals, personal anecdotes, and more. It is available for purchase through 4AD.
The band’s latest studio album, Sketchy, was released in March 2021. Since then, Tune-Yards has continued to innovate, including composing an original soundtrack for Boots Riley’s series I’m a Virgo, marking their second collaboration following their earlier score for the film Sorry to Bother You in 2018.
