At a recent campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump addressed the July 13 assassination attempt on his life, reiterating the gravity of the event. Speaking at the Butler Farm Show grounds, the site of the near-fatal incident, Trump reflected on how the attack left one attendee dead and two others injured, while narrowly missing him.
“Exactly 12 weeks ago this evening on this very ground, a cold-blooded assassin aimed to silence me and to silence the greatest movement, MAGA,” Trump declared. “But by providence and grace, that villain did not succeed in his goal. He did not stop our movement or shake our resolve to save America from the evils of poverty, hatred, and destruction.”
Speaking from behind transparent security barriers, Trump paid tribute to Corey Comperatore, the individual tragically killed during his July rally, with a moment of silence, during which bells tolled and a vocalist performed “Ave Maria.” Trump also expressed gratitude to the Secret Service and medical staff who assisted him during the incident.
The rally drew large crowds, with supporters chanting “Fight! Fight! Fight!” as they awaited Trump’s speech. Other speakers echoed sentiments about the shooting, emphasizing the seriousness of the attempt on Trump’s life.
Trump’s son, Eric Trump, pointed fingers at the political opposition, stating, “They tried to kill him,” and criticized the Democratic Party’s incompetence. In a show of solidarity, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk praised Trump’s courage, contrasting him with previous leaders.
Aside from discussing the July incident, Trump reiterated his standard campaign themes, advocating for stringent immigration policies, highlighting the importance of fossil fuels, and pledging to restore America’s manufacturing prowess. He also emphasized his plan to “keep men out of women’s sports,” describing policies he claims are detrimental to women.
