The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the recent ruling by the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld Governor Monday Okpebholo’s victory, as a clear affirmation of the people’s choice.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka praised the judiciary for delivering a well-reasoned judgment.
The tribunal unanimously dismissed a petition from the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, citing insufficient evidence to support claims of over-voting.
In response to the ruling, the APC extended congratulations to Governor Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, and encouraged them to intensify their efforts in providing effective governance.
Morka remarked, “The All Progressives Congress wholeheartedly congratulates the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, following the tribunal’s affirmation of their electoral victory.”
He continued, “This landmark judgment reiterates the overwhelming support received by the APC’s candidate in the September 21, 2024, gubernatorial election and reflects the collective will of the people of Edo State.”
The APC commended the judiciary for its independent and professional decision-making, which it believes strengthens democracy.
The party also acknowledged the citizens of Edo State for their support during the election and the legal challenges that followed.
Morka expressed confidence that this victory would further motivate Governor Okpebholo, who is committed to delivering good governance and the benefits of democracy. He urged the governor to fulfill President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring that its advantages reach all residents of the state.
The APC expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his exemplary leadership and dedication to the party’s vision.
