Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has partnered with the All India Manufacturers’ Organisation (AIMO) to launch a three-day free training program focused on smartphone servicing. This initiative aims to equip participants with hands-on skills essential for thriving in the rapidly evolving mobile technology sector.
The inaugural session, held at the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Telecom Training Centre in Meenambakkam, Chennai, successfully trained 25 candidates. The event featured prominent speakers including Kalyan Sagar Nippani, Director of Human Resources at BSNL, and R. Radhakrishnan, National General Secretary of the AIMO.
Kalyan Sagar Nippani highlighted the mobile technology sector’s potential for growth and employment, noting that India’s current landscape includes 11.5 million mobile connections and approximately 10 million mobile handsets. With the continuous release of new smartphone models, there is an increasing demand for skilled technicians.
This training program specifically targets individuals with disabilities and students from marginalized communities, offering them vital skills that can lead to self-employment and sustainable livelihoods. Participants will gain expertise in chip-level troubleshooting, along with knowledge about the safety measures required when handling electronic devices.
BSNL and AIMO have committed to organizing more training sessions in the future and are exploring options for facilitating loans through nationalized banks to further support these initiatives.
