A significant traffic gridlock has caused severe delays on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, extending from Wawa Bus Stop to Otedola Bridge.
The congestion, which began early in the morning, has left commuters stranded and frustrated as vehicles inch forward.
To escape the standstill, many motorists are attempting to navigate the untarred sections of the road, resulting in clouds of dust and exacerbating the chaotic conditions.
Passengers and drivers have indicated that the traffic jam was triggered by an accident near Otedola Bridge.
While the details of the crash are still unfolding, eyewitnesses report that its aftermath has greatly hindered movement, leading to the current traffic crisis.
Commuter Mr. Samuel Adeoye, who has been trapped in the gridlock for over three hours, expressed his frustration: “This is disappointing. I have been here since morning, and we have barely moved. I heard there was an accident, but there should be a way to relieve this traffic quickly.”
Similarly, driver Mrs. Bola Omotosho called for immediate government intervention: “The authorities need to address the situation on this road. Accidents and traffic jams happen too frequently, affecting productivity and daily life.”
