CES 2025 is set to launch on January 7, and one of the buzzwords this year is definitely AI.
As enthusiasts for innovative gadgets, there’s anticipation for exciting new technology, both AI-powered and traditional hardware, during this year’s event.
With major announcements just around the corner, there are already hints at what’s to come, despite much remaining under wraps. Here’s a look at the notable highlights expected at CES 2025.
Honda’s Electric Vehicles
Although CES isn’t primarily a car show, automotive manufacturers often leverage the event to showcase the latest technology in their vehicles. While some major brands may sit this one out, Honda is fully committed, preparing a series of announcements for CES.
On January 7, Honda will unveil new 0 Series prototype models, which aim to refine the designs seen at CES 2024. Attendees will also hear about a new vehicle operating system slated for these cars and updates regarding Honda’s automated driving technology.
Additionally, Honda has collaborated with Sony to produce the electric vehicle AFEELA, with plans to showcase its latest innovations at CES.
4K and 5K OLED Monitors
While OLED monitors have gained traction, their application in gaming hasn’t fully caught up with LCD options in terms of size and resolution. This could change shortly as manufacturers like Samsung, Asus, and MSI are set to roll out 27-inch 4K OLED monitors boasting 240Hz refresh rates. Moreover, LG is prepared to introduce a 45-inch bendable OLED display with 5K resolution at CES.
CES remains the key event for monitor and TV unveilings, with expectations for more exciting innovations from industry leaders like Samsung and LG after last year’s eye-catching transparent OLED TV.
Lenovo Legion GO Series
Rumors suggest Lenovo may reveal new handheld gaming devices at CES 2025, including successors to the Lenovo Legion GO, which debuted in September 2023. Known for its impressive 8.8-inch display, the handheld device competes well against similar offerings such as Nintendo Switch and Valve’s Steam Deck.
Potential new models include the Lenovo Legion GO S, a more affordable option, along with an enhanced version, the Lenovo Legion GO 2. There’s also speculation about a third model, the Lenovo Legion GO S Steam Edition, which could run on SteamOS.
Nvidia’s Latest Graphics Cards
Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, will headline the keynote presentation at CES, where the launch of new RTX 50 series graphics cards is anticipated. While gaming hardware may not be a priority for all, the introduction of Nvidia’s graphics cards is significant for industry standards, often setting benchmarks for performance.
Speculations suggest that the RTX 5090 might deliver a remarkable 50% performance gain compared to the RTX 4090, which is currently the leading graphics card available. Such advancements could enhance gaming experiences and contribute to new applications in AI and scientific research.
An Innovative ‘Emotional-Support AI Robot’
Mixi is preparing to introduce the Romi Lacatan, a unique gadget designed as a “palmtop, emotional-support AI robot.” This engaging device is capable of holding real-time conversations while recalling previous interactions. Aside from dialogue, it includes physical gestures and facial expressions displayed on its integrated screen, making it a standout gadget likely to attract attention at CES.
