Ripon is set to host exciting domestic racing this Saturday, while in the United States, the prestigious Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic will showcase talents like Silver Knott and War Like Goddess.
3:20 PM Ripon – Key Runners Include Baradar, Balmodero, and Tropical Island
Baradar, Balmodero, and Tropical Island will line up in the Michael Raby Memorial Handicap (4:00 PM).
Mick Appleby’s Balmodero demonstrated impressive form with a recent victory at Doncaster and cannot be overlooked, even at a 5lb higher rating.
Tropical Island stands out among the three-year-olds, having shown significant promise this summer and is well-positioned for a competitive performance.
George Boughey’s Baradar will also be a serious contender, particularly if the ground softens, with the addition of blinkers likely to enhance his performance.
2:45 PM Ripon – High Opinion and Count d’Orsay Lead the Field
High Opinion and Count d’Orsay are prominent in the Race Reads Expert Betting Service Handicap (2:45 PM).
Bryan Smart’s High Opinion secured his third win of the season on this course last month and will be making a bold effort as he steps up in grade with Andrew Breslin aboard.
Count d’Orsay, a dual winner at this distance, arrives in peak form after a narrow victory in a competitive handicap at Chester last week and should not be underestimated.
Another Baar remains on a manageable rating but must recover quickly after a disappointing performance at Kempton.
5:15 PM Ripon – Newcomer Creatif to Face Off Against Al Ameed
Creatif will make his British debut after joining David O’Meara, having been purchased for 140,000 euros at the Arqana Summer sales in July. He kicked off his career with a win at Saint-Cloud in May and finished third at the same venue the following month, aiming to overcome a penalty under jockey Oisin Orr.
The Simon & Ed Crisford-trained Al Ameed, who has placed in three of his five outings, is expected to provide significant competition, with jockey P J McDonald set to ensure a challenging race.
Karl Burke’s Lady La Fay is also worth noting, having shown potential in her four previous starts.
International Racing Highlights
The Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont Park will feature top contenders including War Like Goddess, a daughter of a past race winner, along with Silver Knott from the Charlie Appleby stable, and Far Bridge (7:40 PM). Additionally, top-level racing will take place at Santa Anita with the Grade 1 California Crown.
In France, Il Est Francais will headline a Grade 3 event at Auteuil, which will also include Gold Tweet (4:00 PM).
