The Tesla Cybertruck is back in the spotlight as the vehicle faces its eighth recall. This marks a significant moment for a truck that many deemed to be rugged and tough, yet continues to encounter persistent issues. The majority of Cybertrucks sold to date, all Model Year 2024 and 2025 units, are affected by this latest recall.
Unlike previous software-related fixes that could be resolved via firmware updates, this recall addresses a critical manufacturing flaw. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue lies with the cant rail, an assembly composed of an electrocoated steel stamping bonded to a stainless steel panel with structural adhesive. The NHTSA has warned that this panel may delaminate at the adhesive joint, potentially leading to its separation from the vehicle, which poses a safety hazard to drivers behind the Cybertruck.
This particular issue has already disrupted Cybertruck deliveries, as reported last week. In response to the recall, Tesla owners are encouraged to visit their nearest service center, where the cant rail assembly will be replaced at no cost to them.
