ECNETNews is excited to announce the release of the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, Happy Gilmore 2, featuring Adam Sandler. This 45-second sneak peek also marks the return of Christopher McDonald, reprising his role as the iconic villain Shooter McGavin. Although a specific release date is yet to be confirmed, the film is expected to premiere in 2025.
Cast of Happy Gilmore 2
In Happy Gilmore 2, Adam Sandler returns as Happy, a former hockey player who takes to golf in a bid to save his grandmother’s house. Known for his unconventional golf style, Happy’s antics are sure to rattle the PGA Tour and endear him to fans.
Joining Sandler in this sequel are familiar faces including Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Happy’s rival, and Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, Happy’s love interest and PR director.
The cast will also feature new talents including Benito Martínez Ocasio, Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie, Margaret Qualley, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Scott Mescudi, Travis Kelce, and John Daly.
Kyle Newacheck is directing the film with a script co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy. The production team includes Sandler, Herlihy, Robert Simonds, and Jack Giarraputo. Unlike the original film, which was produced by Universal Studios, Happy Gilmore 2 will be a production by Netflix.
The original Happy Gilmore, released in 1996, was a breakthrough role for Sandler, grossing over $41 million on a $12 million budget.
Production for Happy Gilmore 2 is currently underway, and the movie will be available for streaming on Netflix in the future.
