The Tamil Nadu Law Minister and prominent Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader S. Reghupathy has expressed strong support for the recent survey results conducted in the state.
The survey indicates that if Lok Sabha elections were held today, the DMK-Congress alliance would continue to enjoy significant backing from voters in Tamil Nadu.
Reghupathy highlighted, “This survey reveals the sentiment of the Tamil Nadu populace. It demonstrates that the DMK is poised to win in all parliamentary constituencies. Our vote share has risen from 47 percent in the last elections to 52 percent now, indicating a growing endorsement for our party and Chief Minister MK Stalin.”
He further noted that the decline in vote share for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) signals a weakening position for the party.
“We acknowledge all feedback. Our aim is to elevate our vote share from 52 to 55 percent to achieve our target of securing 200 seats,” Reghupathy added.
However, he refuted the notion that AIADMK’s decline would bolster the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that the people of Tamil Nadu would not support the BJP in upcoming Assembly elections. “I believe the new party founded by actor Vijay, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), will garner even fewer votes. Their support will largely come from fans, resulting in only a minimal number of votes,” he stated.
The survey, which took place between January 2 and February 9, 2025, involved responses from 125,123 individuals across all Lok Sabha segments and included a combination of fresh interviews and long-term tracking data.
