In a striking development, allegations have emerged regarding the government’s inconsistent approach to education, as the Students’ Federation of India-Telangana asserts that while advocating for international standards in government-run institutions, the state is simultaneously promoting a private education framework reminiscent of previous administrations.
The federation highlights a troubling trend, noting the government’s failure to release fee reimbursement dues and scholarships over multiple years. This delay has created significant challenges for students who have completed their education and are now unable to secure admissions after passing entrance exams.
College managements are caught in a difficult situation, pressuring students to make payments for certificate releases. They too are grappling with financial strains, relying on loans and overdrafts to keep their operations afloat.
SFI leaders R.L. Murthy and T. Nagaraj emphasize that the majority of affected students belong to Backward Classes and SC/ST communities, with outstanding dues now estimated at approximately ₹8,000 crore.
Critics from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have condemned the government’s inaction, characterizing it as a calculated effort to undermine the education sector. The United Student Federation of India is also rallying against these delays, announcing plans to mobilize students for a State-wide bandh to demand accountability and resolution.
