Spellling has announced the release of her highly anticipated new album, Portrait of My Heart, set to drop on March 28. This marks Chrystia Cabral’s first full-length project since her 2021 release, The Turning Wheel. Alongside the album announcement, Cabral has unveiled the lead single and title track, "Portrait of My Heart," which comes with a visually captivating music video directed by Ambar Navarro.
In discussing the inspiration for the lead single, Cabral remarked, "When the lyrics for the title track came together, it really started to morph everything in this more energetic direction…" She expressed a deep affection for the song, emphasizing its transformation and the timeless qualities she strives for in her work. The accompanying video delves into the intense obsession that artists often experience during the creative process.
For Portrait of My Heart, Cabral collaborated with her touring bandmates—Wyatt Overson (guitar), Patrick Shelley (drums), and Giulio Xavier Cetto (bass)—alongside mixing engineer Drew Vandenberg, producer Psymun, and Rob Bisel, a frequent collaborator with SZA.
The album also features contributions from notable artists, including Toro y Moi’s Chaz Bear on the track "Mount Analogue," Turnstile guitarist Pat McCrory on "Alibi," and Zulus’ Braxton Marcellous on "Drain."
Stay tuned for more updates and a lineup of upcoming tour dates kicking off in April.
