Cash and important documents worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in a massive fire that erupted at a Central Bank branch office in Maharashtra’s Amravati on Saturday, according to officials.
The fire is believed to have originated from a short circuit in an air conditioning unit shortly after the bank opened its doors. The blaze quickly spread, engulfing the entire bank premises. Fortunately, bank employees managed to evacuate safely, preventing any loss of life.
Fire department teams arrived promptly to tackle the inferno, and additional support was requested from nearby municipal corporations when initial firefighting efforts proved insufficient. As the fire raged, a large crowd of locals gathered, prompting police intervention to manage the situation.
Local police confirmed that all documents and furniture within the bank were reduced to ashes. Currently, no formal complaint has been lodged by the bank administration, but sources indicate that significant amounts of cash were incinerated in the fire. Investigative efforts are underway to determine the exact cause of the incident, with a forensic team potentially being summoned to analyze the situation.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
