Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is being considered for the head coach position at Southampton, which is currently vacant. As it stands, there has been no formal approach made to Sheffield Wednesday regarding this role.
Additionally, two other international coaches have emerged as potential candidates for Southampton. The club would not be obligated to pay any compensation for these alternatives.
Rohl has a strong connection to Southampton, having served as an assistant coach under Ralph Hasenhuttl when they joined in December 2018. His leadership played a critical role in helping the team escape relegation during that season.
In his current role, Rohl guided Sheffield Wednesday to safety on the final day of the Championship last season, showcasing his coaching acumen which was also developed at Bayern Munich and the German FA.
Meanwhile, former Brighton U23s and England U19s coach Simon Rusk has been appointed to oversee the upcoming League Cup tie against Liverpool. He is also prepared to step in for the Premier League match against Fulham if Southampton does not expedite its search for a new manager this week.
The decision to part ways with Russell Martin was influenced by Southampton’s underwhelming first-half performance against Tottenham, leading to the conclusion that a change was necessary.
