In a significant move, the government has appointed former RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das as the Principal Secretary-2 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet confirmed that Das’s appointment will take effect upon his assumption of office.
His tenure will be co-terminus with that of the Prime Minister or until further orders are issued.
Currently, PK Mishra serves as the first Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, a position he has held since September 11, 2019. Das’s appointment as the second Principal Secretary marks a key transition in the Prime Minister’s office.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
