In a shocking incident in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, a private school has been sealed following the arrest of a schoolteacher accused of raping a three-year-old girl inside the school’s premises. Authorities are also contemplating the cancellation of the school’s affiliation with the State Board.
Sub-divisional magistrate Archana Sharma confirmed that the school received a notice, and a committee has been established to evaluate the situation regarding its affiliation.
“With approximately 300-400 students enrolled, the committee will assess various factors before making a final determination,” she added.
The computer teacher, identified as Qasim Rehan, 35, was arrested on September 17 after the girl’s mother reported signs of trauma on her child’s body. Initial reports indicate that the alleged assault occurred on September 13.
Sharma mentioned that another committee is currently reviewing the school’s safety measures, including the presence of CCTV cameras and the child-to-nanny ratio. A report from this assessment is expected within three days.
“We are also engaging with other educators and school officials, as well as interviewing parents of students,” she noted.
The investigation is being led by a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Women Security) Nidhi Saxena.
Saxena reported that evidence, including the accused’s mobile phone and testimonies from the victim’s family, is being thoroughly examined.
“Counseling services are being offered to the victim and her family through the Child Welfare Committee,” she stated.
An additional police source revealed that inappropriate content was found on the accused’s phone and noted that he had been divorced recently.
“It’s believed he may have viewed this content while on school grounds,” the officer commented, wishing to remain anonymous.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has instructed the Chief Secretary to collaborate with the High Court Chief Justice to establish a special court aimed at expediting the trial process for this severe case.
