The mayor expressed readiness to collaborate with Coahuila Governor Manolo Jiménez to ensure timely attendance at the upcoming meeting with the President, scheduled for tomorrow.
Cepeda highlighted that the meeting will focus on the implementation of the Social Infrastructure Contribution Fund, effective this year, with the aim of reaching agreements to combine municipal, state, and federal budgets for priority projects, including potable water and drainage systems. The goal is to establish a three-year budget dedicated solely to addressing potable water supply issues.
“We will be vigilant to listen and bring back as much as possible. Torreón will contribute the necessary resources to continue attracting state and federal investments, as collaborative efforts lighten the load,” stated the mayor.
The mayor explained that Torreón will present a range of proposals, emphasizing the need to work closely with state and federal governments due to budget constraints faced by municipalities. He reiterated that municipal and metropolitan projects remain top priorities.
BUDGET CUTS
Regarding federal funding cuts, the mayor revealed that in 2024 Torreón will lose approximately 50 million pesos. He expressed hope that further reductions will not occur, as these funds are critical for sustaining investment in the city.
Cepeda stressed that one of the most urgent projects is the storm drainage system, an essential undertaking estimated to cost over 1.5 billion pesos. Additionally, he underscored the importance of solidifying the Healthy Water for La Laguna project and continuing to develop water infrastructure for Torreón.
In conclusion, the mayor indicated that the municipality has various infrastructure, potable water, mobility, and public works projects slated for execution over the next three years, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Torreón residents.
