Timothy Zechariah’s Last-Minute Goal Secures Victory for Rivers United
In a thrilling encounter on Sunday, Rivers United clinched a much-needed victory against Lobi Stars, with an 88th-minute header from Timothy Zechariah sealing the 1-0 win in Port Harcourt. This victory ended a disappointing streak of five games without a win for the team, reviving hopes for their title chase. Rivers United now stands in third place with 38 points from 23 matches, trailing leaders Remo Stars by 10 points.
Prior to this match, Rivers United had not won since December, facing three draws and two defeats that significantly impacted their position in the title race.
In another match, Akwa United also returned to form, securing a narrow 2-1 win over Enyimba FC in a match-day 23 NPFL clash in Uyo. Goals from Ogunleye Olayemi and Uche Sabastine propelled Akwa United to their first win in five games, although they remain in the relegation zone with only 23 points.

Additionally, Niger Tornadoes and Plateau United ended their match in a 1-1 stalemate, while champions Rangers International held Bayelsa United to a scoreless draw in Yenagoa.
