The PlayStation 5 Pro is now available for preorder, with Target being the first major retailer to offer it. Starting today, October 10, other retailers will also join in for the preorder launch. The PS5 Pro is priced at $700 and is set to release on November 7, coinciding with the release of the new Chroma Collection DualSense controllers and console covers.
In addition to the PS5 Pro, today marks the start of preorders for the PS5 Slim Digital Anniversary Edition, which kicks off at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET.
While the PS5 Pro is a digital-only console, it supports a separate Disc Drive attachment, priced at $80, which was released last year. For those who prefer an upright console setup, the PlayStation Vertical Stand is available for $30, bringing the total potential cost to $810 plus local taxes.
Currently, Target is the only major retailer accepting preorders for the PS5 Pro, although Amazon and Best Buy have setup listing pages that will go live today.
The PS5 Pro boasts a powerful GPU that enhances rendering speeds by 45%, alongside advanced visual features such as AI-driven upscaling and ray tracing. It comes equipped with a generous 2TB SSD, doubling the storage capacity compared to standard PS5 Slim models. This added storage is a cost-effective option, as upgrading existing PS5 models by 1TB typically costs around $100.
The console also features a sleek design update, including wider “racing stripes” on the side panels, and is packaged with a standard DualSense 5 controller. Additional DualSense controllers retail between $75-$80, reflecting a recent price increase.
Players looking to enjoy physical games on the PS5 Pro will require the PS5 Disc Drive attachment. While it has been difficult to find in stock due to heightened demand, as of October 10, it is available at various retailers. However, customers should be aware that Target is currently sold out and a membership may be required for purchase at GameStop.
