Kahama. ECNETNews reports that Taifa Gas has partnered with Barrick Gold Corporation to enhance the adoption of clean cooking energy by offering training on safe gas usage to local communities.
This initiative is in alignment with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s environmental conservation goals.
A three-day training session, conducted in Kahama District, targeted residents living near Barrick’s Bulyanhulu mine.
Taifa Gas trainer Praygod Ole Naiko emphasized that the program aims to raise awareness about clean energy and its numerous benefits.
“These efforts are designed to facilitate a green revolution by encouraging Tanzanians to shift towards clean cooking energy. This transition not only supports environmental conservation but also fosters economic growth,” he stated.
Ole Naiko reiterated Taifa Gas’s commitment to bolstering the government’s clean energy strategy, commending President Samia’s leadership in promoting sustainable energy initiatives.
Mary Lupamba, a representative from Barrick, expressed pride in participating in the initiative, which aims to extend its reach to more citizens through collaboration with Taifa Gas.
“This program will create positive changes for beneficiaries and the larger community. We are committed to sustainable solutions that enhance people’s lives while protecting the environment,” Lupamba noted.
Participant Amina Juma remarked that the training provided essential insights into the advantages of gas energy and cleared up misconceptions about its cost.
“The knowledge gained will enable us to adopt cleaner and safer cooking methods,” she shared.
Another participant, Joseph Musa from Kakola Hamlet, expressed gratitude for the program reaching rural communities where many still depend on charcoal and firewood, which pose health risks and harm the environment.
The clean energy education initiative is part of a wider campaign launched last year during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
Since its inception, the campaign has successfully informed citizens across various regions about clean cooking energy and safety protocols.
