President-elect Trump has announced that his Inaugural address will be relocated to the Capitol Rotunda, citing anticipated frigid temperatures that render the traditional outdoor setting impractical.
“The dignitaries and guests will be warmly welcomed into the Capitol, creating a beautiful experience for everyone, especially for the vast television audience,” Trump noted, referencing a similar change made by former President Reagan in 1985 for the same reason.
As temperatures are projected to reach a high of only 23 degrees in Washington on Inauguration Day, preparations reflect a necessary response to the weather.
Trump has also indicated that there will be a live feed at a prominent venue in downtown Washington, where he plans to make an appearance following his swearing-in ceremony.
