The Federal Government has announced a commitment to enhance the operational capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force by providing modern equipment and additional resources. This pledge was made by President Bola Tinubu during the graduation ceremony for 478 new students at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State.
Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu emphasized the need to combat corruption and maintain professionalism within the police force. He stated, “We are also launching a comprehensive recruitment initiative for the Police Force to empower our youth in national security efforts.”
The President encouraged the graduates to uphold the ethics of modern policing in their future roles, expressing confidence that they have received adequate training to positively influence the country’s security framework. He reassured attendees of the government’s ongoing support for the academy, recognized as one of the premier training institutions for police officers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In his address, Tinubu urged the newly commissioned officers to prioritize national interests and fulfill their constitutional duties with dedication and commitment. He called for vigilance and an unwavering focus on effective service delivery.
“As you graduate today, you assume the role of ambassadors for the Nigeria Police Service,” he remarked. “Discharge your primary duties with compassion, integrity, and professionalism, as your actions reflect upon both the institution and the nation.”
In his congratulatory message, Tinubu encouraged the graduands to serve with honor, dignity, and respect for all Nigerians.
Earlier, the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, highlighted that the 478 graduates are equipped with vital policing skills aimed at improving the nation’s security landscape.
