President Bola Tinubu has called on the Armed Forces to confront the nation’s adversaries with enhanced military skill and resolve, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as the giant of Africa. This directive came during the combined passing-out parade in Kaduna, which included cadets from the 71 Regular Course of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with Direct Short Service Course 28 (Army) and Course 32 (Air Force) from the Nigerian Defence Academy.
A total of 823 officers were officially commissioned into the Armed Forces at the event. Tinubu, represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, urged military personnel to maintain focus and uphold professional standards in democratic governance.
“We are the giant of Africa and must remain so,” Tinubu asserted, while highlighting the numerous challenges facing Nigeria, including economic difficulties, a declining standard of living, rising unemployment, and insecurity.
Despite these issues, Tinubu emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering national unity, security, and development. “My administration is resolute in its mandate to create better living conditions for Nigerians and has commenced numerous initiatives toward this goal.”
He acknowledged the critical problems at the heart of the nation’s struggles and reiterated the need for collective effort from all Nigerians to address them effectively. Moreover, he expressed deep empathy for the families of fallen soldiers, directing military leadership to develop robust proposals to alleviate their suffering.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s tumultuous history since independence, Tinubu expressed his determination to reshape the future, ensuring inclusivity for every citizen, including the newly commissioned cadets, upon whom the nation heavily invests. “The nation requires loyalty, commitment, dedication, resilience, and service from you. Be prepared to answer the call of duty whenever the nation needs you,” he concluded.
