A 15-year-old schoolgirl in Delta State, Emmanuella Monday, has urgently called for assistance after fleeing from a situation she described as abusive. Emmanuella alleges that her mother attempted to force her into child prostitution in exchange for money.
Currently a Senior Secondary School student at Triumphant School in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, Emmanuella has accused her mother of contracting her to unknown men for sexual exploitation. In a shocking revelation shared through a video, the girl recounted how her mother brought her to a hotel last Sunday and left her there with a man.
Emmanuella stated, “My mother has been taking me to men. Last Sunday, after church, she took me to meet a man in a hotel. She left and said she would return, but she didn’t come back until the evening.”
Continuing her gripping tale, she explained how she managed to escape when the man left to take a shower. Instead of returning home, Emmanuella sought refuge at a friend’s house, where she spent the night. The next morning, she reported her ordeal to a teacher at school.
Emmanuella shared, “This is not the first time my mother has taken me to meet different men. She always seems preoccupied with my future and marriage.”
When reached for comment, Emmanuella’s mother, Eunice Asulie, claimed her daughter was missing and expressed concern over her whereabouts, stating, “I have been searching for her everywhere.”
The proprietress of Triumphant Schools, Mrs. Magareth Oghuvwu, reported that Emmanuella arrived at school visibly shaken, revealing the extent of her mother’s actions and the attempted trafficking. The school is now in contact with law enforcement to address the situation.
Human rights activist Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho has submitted a petition to the National Human Rights Commission, urging them to intervene and protect Emmanuella from further exploitation. The petition highlights the severe violation of the girl’s rights, alleging that her mother has sold her to a suspected sex trafficker.
This case has also been reported to the Ovwian Police Station. Police Inspector Esther Obukowho is currently overseeing the investigation, indicated that Emmanuella will be placed under police protective custody until the matter is fully resolved. The community continues to rally around Emmanuella, seeking justice and safety for the young girl.
