Video footage captures Olympic kitesurfer Bruno Lobo in a heroic act as he rescues a woman who appeared to be struggling in the ocean. While kitesurfing off the coast of São Luís, Brazil, Lobo, who was testing a new camera, heard frantic screams for help.
The dual-threat athlete, also an orthopaedic doctor, sprang into action, expertly assisting the woman onto his back and using his kite to navigate safely back to shore. Upon reaching the beach, the woman was seen reuniting with friends, walking away from the shoreline.
Reflecting on the incident, Lobo expressed in a self-recorded video, “I only did my duty,” emphasizing that he was simply “in the right place at the right time.” He took the opportunity to convey an important message about ocean safety, alerting followers that “the sea is truly very dangerous” and highlighting how quickly tides can pull individuals into deep water.
