In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare in the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Minister has approved the hiring of 34 resident doctors. This initial recruitment represents the first wave of 60 medical residency trainees set to join eight specialties across FCTA hospitals.
This initiative is a landmark achievement in medical staffing, expanding career opportunities for physicians while elevating the standard of medical care within the FCT.
A statement highlighted that the newly appointed doctors include five in psychiatry, four in internal medicine, one in general surgery, one in anesthesiology, eight in family medicine, six in ophthalmology, and nine in obstetrics and gynecology.
Furthermore, plans are in place for the FCTA Civil Service Commission to launch the recruitment process for an additional 26 resident doctors soon, with positions available in various specialties including psychiatry, internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesiology, and pediatrics.
This proactive employment strategy underscores the FCT administration’s commitment to bolstering the healthcare system by ensuring the presence of qualified medical professionals across diverse specialties.
