Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, has shared her personal journey following the Brazilian Butt Lift surgery she underwent in 2018.
In a recent interview, Eke disclosed that her decision for the procedure was influenced by trends and peer pressure, despite having a naturally slim physique. She expressed, “To be very truthful, at first, it was because of the trend. I did my body in 2018. At the time, it seemed like everyone was doing it. I had a beautiful, slim body, but my stomach was a little too much.”
Eke admitted to feeling apprehensive about the surgery and chose not to inform her mother to avoid discouragement. She, along with two friends, made the decision and went through the process together.
Reflecting on her experience, she confessed to not conducting adequate research on her surgeon and downplaying potential risks. “I didn’t do any research on the doctor beforehand. Maybe I was just ignorant. I didn’t think about the risks. But now, if I have to touch my body, I must ensure the credibility of that doctor. I’ll be asking many questions before allowing anyone to operate on me again.”
Eke described the post-surgery phase as intensely painful, emphasizing the challenges such as required massages to alleviate swelling and the necessity to avoid sleeping on her back for 14 days. “After the surgery, you get to have your body massaged—that’s the painful part. You can’t sleep on your butt for 14 days; you have to lay on your stomach. It’s painful when the nurses massage you to help release the water. When you wake up from surgery, it’s also painful; you cry for three days, but it’s worth it.”
In her interview, she also addressed speculation regarding her facial changes, clarifying that she has only undergone lip fillers, which dissolve after three months. “People keep saying that I touched my face, so I keep posting throwbacks for them to see. I have touched my lips; just fillers done; it dissolves after three months, and I feel like people need to be more educated—especially about fillers; it’s not liposuction.”
In related news, the Lagos State Police Command has issued a wanted notice for a doctor in connection with the tragic death of a 36-year-old woman during a buttocks enlargement procedure in Lekki Phase 1. The individual reportedly succumbed to complications while receiving treatment at a clinic.
