Three-time world champion Mark Williams required oxygen while participating in a snooker exhibition at the Winter Plateau Snooker Challenge in Tibet, where the venue is situated at an altitude of 11,998 feet above sea level.
The 49-year-old Welshman reassured fans through social media, stating, “I’m fine, I’m not sick,” despite the challenges posed by the high altitude. He shared a photo wearing nasal tubes, highlighting the effects of the environment on his performance.
Williams has an impressive career with 26 ranking event victories, including two UK Championships and three British Opens. His most recent triumph came in April 2024, where he defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan to secure the Tour Championship. Additionally, he claimed the non-ranking Champion of Champions title in November. Looking ahead, Williams is scheduled to compete against Ding Junhui in the opening round of The Masters at Alexandra Palace on January 13.
