LIAT 2020 is set to enhance regional travel connectivity with the launch of direct flights from Antigua and Barbuda to Dominica. The airline has announced competitive fares starting at US$999 plus tax, marking its commitment to resume essential air travel in the Caribbean.
Nature enthusiasts can now book their flights to experience Dominica’s stunning landscapes, as LIAT 2020 strengthens its ties with the Dominican tourism sector, opening new avenues for visitors.
The relaunch of LIAT 2020 comes after the previous airline ceased operations in 1974 due to significant challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The new venture was established with considerable investment and support from various stakeholders, including the government of Antigua and Barbuda and international partners.
Following the successful completion of all necessary regulatory protocols, LIAT 2020 secured its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and commenced commercial operations in August 2024, heralding a new era for Caribbean air travel.
The inaugural direct flight from Saint Lucia was welcomed at VC Bird International Airport, with notable attendees including Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who emphasized the airline’s role in fostering regional unity through direct air services.
LIAT 2020 has ambitious plans to expand its routes across the Caribbean, aiming to capture a larger share of the North American market. The airline has also released its itinerary, which includes services from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, and Saint Lucia, ensuring comprehensive connectivity in the region.
The fleet, comprising aircraft models 301 and 302, operates a direct flight service with varied schedules to accommodate travelers’ needs.
