Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts has received a six-match suspension following a reckless challenge on Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, which resulted in the forward being hospitalized.
Roberts, whose high boot injured Mateta’s ear during their clash in the FA Cup fifth round, was originally anticipated to serve a standard three-match ban. However, the Football Association challenged this penalty, arguing that it was “clearly insufficient” for the severity of the offense. An independent regulatory panel subsequently ruled in favor of extending the suspension to six matches.
