Jarrod Bowen is expected to miss approximately six weeks of action due to a fractured foot suffered during a recent match against Liverpool. The 28-year-old winger was substituted in the 60th minute as his team faced a challenging defeat at the London Stadium. Bowen initially sustained the injury in the first half but continued to play before ultimately being taken off the field.
Despite fears that Bowen might be out for as long as two months, West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui remains optimistic that the player’s recovery could be quicker. “Unfortunately, he has an injury,” Lopetegui stated. “He managed to play 30 minutes with this injury, but he now needs to rest and recover.”
Lopetegui emphasized the importance of Bowen to the team, noting, “Jarrod is one of our main players and our captain. We need to find solutions, and this is the moment for other players to demonstrate their readiness to help us.”
Bowen, who leads the team with six goals and four assists this season, represents a significant loss for West Ham as they navigate a challenging Premier League campaign. Current standings have the team placed 13th, with six wins from 19 games, and only eight points clear of relegation territory.
In addition to Bowen’s injury, West Ham will also be without Michail Antonio for an extended period following his recovery from a car accident. Antonio underwent surgery for a broken leg but is now recovering at home, as confirmed by Lopetegui.
Upcoming fixtures for West Ham include:
– January 4: Manchester City (away)
– January 10: Aston Villa (away) – FA Cup
– January 14: Fulham (home)
– January 18: Crystal Palace (home)
– January 26: Aston Villa (away)
– February 3: Chelsea (away)
– February 15: Brentford (home)
These injuries come at a crucial time as the Hammers aim to improve their league position in the coming weeks.
