ECNETNews recently spoke with Jayden Bartels and Sam McCarthy about their involvement in the upcoming series, Goosebumps: The Vanishing. The duo shared insights into their experiences filming the new season, working alongside David Schwimmer, and what fans can expect from the show.
Set to premiere on January 10, 2025, Goosebumps: The Vanishing follows twins Cece and Devin Brewer as they spend their summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn, with their divorced father. As a sinister threat emerges, the twins uncover dark secrets that set off a thrilling mystery involving four teenagers who vanished under mysterious circumstances in 1994.
“We were all familiar with Goosebumps before taking on these roles,” Bartels shared. “I read some of the books as a kid and watched the Jack Black movies. It was eye-opening to dive deeper into this enduring franchise, which I wish I had explored more when I was younger.”
When asked about preparing for their roles, Bartels mentioned, “We certainly watched the first season to get a feel for the world. However, the real preparation came from immersing ourselves in the characters and scripts, focusing on how to embody the essence of Cece and Devin.”
“Playing twins is unique,” McCarthy added. “There’s an inherent connection. Even off-set, we bonded, which made our sibling dynamic on camera feel authentic.”
The pair also expressed their admiration for Schwimmer, noting his laid-back demeanor on set. “He’s incredibly grounded, which creates a positive atmosphere for everyone,” Bartels said. McCarthy added, “Witnessing his transition from performing to being calm and approachable was truly inspiring.”
The actors hinted at exciting moments in the series, including practical effects and a standout scene involving a haunted car that Bartels found particularly engaging. “Filming that scene required a lot of imagination and teamwork, especially with the stunts, to make it look real on camera,” he explained.
With all eight episodes of Goosebumps: The Vanishing set for release on Disney+ and Hulu, anticipation continues to build for this thrilling new installment of the beloved franchise.
