In a recent interview, former President Donald Trump addressed the thwarted assassination attempt against him that occurred while he was golfing in Florida. This marks his first public comments on the incident.
During the discussion, which also touched upon his sons’ new cryptocurrency initiative, Trump highlighted the commendable efforts of the U.S. Secret Service, stating they did a “great job” in ensuring his safety during the recent scare. He recounted hearing four to five gunshots before being swiftly taken away in a golf cart.
He humorously noted that he “would have loved to sink that last putt” amidst the chaos. Trump detailed how a Secret Service agent spotted a gun barrel hidden in the bushes, leading to shots being fired at the suspect, who was subsequently apprehended without discharging his weapon.
Trump further recalled an earlier attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania, in June, remarking that the recent incident had a far more favorable outcome since there were no fatalities compared to the earlier event where one person died, and two others were injured.
During a call with President Biden, Trump stated that Biden was “very nice” and inquired if he needed an increased security detail, to which Trump responded affirmatively, citing the large crowds at his events.
While Trump praised Biden’s approach during their conversation, he remained critical of the current administration’s policies and reiterated his stance against Biden and Vice President Harris. Trump attributed the recent attempted assault to the “rhetoric” of the current administration, specifically targeting Harris with harsh words.
Echoing Trump’s sentiments, Ohio Senator JD Vance highlighted the concerning rise in threats against Trump during a campaign event, urging the left to tone down their rhetoric in light of these serious incidents.
