Trust Records has unveiled an exciting reissue of 7 Seconds’ iconic hardcore punk album New Wind, which now includes Change in My Head, a fresh remix crafted by Ian MacKaye, the album’s original producer, alongside Don Zientara from Inner Ear Studios. The combined release of New Wind and Change In My Head will be available digitally and in retail stores on May 23.
Change in My Head serves as a compelling glimpse into the essence of the influential Reno band, bringing forth never-before-released tracks from their 1985 recording sessions for New Wind, alongside reimagined versions of the original songs. Ahead of the release, 7 Seconds’ frontman Kevin Seconds will engage in an in-person discussion with MacKaye on April 15 at Brain Dead Studios in Los Angeles, delving into the creative process behind New Wind and Change in My Head.
Kevin Seconds reflects on the significance of this era, noting, “The whole time period, between the winter of 1985 and all throughout 1986, was arguably the most important and life-changing period for 7 Seconds. We all were starting to feel like the adults that we fought so rigorously to never become.” He highlights the challenges the band faced while balancing responsibilities with their commitment to maintaining their hardcore identity during this transformative period.
After a hiatus in 2018, prompted by injuries and personal struggles within the band, 7 Seconds reunited in 2022 for a North American tour alongside Circle Jerks and Negative Approach.
