The Emir of Minna, Umaru Bahago, has denied recent claims suggesting he called for an investigation into past leaders and administrations in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Saturday by the Secretary of the Minna Emirate Council, it was clarified that the Emir had been misquoted during a citizen sensitization event related to the Federal Government Intervention Programmes held in Minna. The statement emphasized that their primary objective is to support Nigeria’s progress, irrespective of political affiliations.
This clarification comes after reports emerged on social media, originating from one of his chiefs advocating for President Bola Tinubu to enhance investigations into previous governments to recover misappropriated funds.
The Emir reaffirmed his political neutrality, stressing his role as a unifying figure for all constituents. He expressed his unwavering support for President Tinubu’s initiatives aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s economy and urged the leader not to deviate from his objectives.
Furthermore, the Emir instructed his district heads and turbaned chiefs to maintain neutrality and refrain from public commentary on his behalf without his explicit permission.
He also expressed gratitude for the ongoing efforts by both state and federal governments to combat banditry and terrorism in Niger State, highlighting that continued commitment to these initiatives would enable residents to safely return to their livelihoods and engage in farming and business activities without fear.
