Haley Heynderickx has officially revealed her first album in six years, titled Seed of a Seed. This highly anticipated release will be available digitally on November 1 and in physical format on December 6. The Portland-based singer-songwriter has also unveiled her second single from the album, “Foxglove,” accompanied by a visually captivating music video. In the video, two individuals traverse a grassy mountain while Heynderickx performs and whittles a stick, creating a serene visual narrative.
Seed of a Seed marks the long-awaited follow-up to Heynderickx’s acclaimed 2018 debut, I Need to Start a Garden. This new project is introduced by the July release of the title track “Seed of a Seed,” which explores themes of reclaiming personal time. In contrast, “Foxglove” expresses a yearning for a more leisurely and uncomplicated life, with Heynderickx describing it as her “daydream tune craving a slower and simpler pace of life.”
Lyrically, Seed of a Seed delves into humanity’s growing disconnection from nature amidst our tech-driven world and rampant consumerism. Joining Heynderickx on this creative journey are drummer Daniel Rossi, trombone player Denzel Mendoza, and bassist Matthew Holmes, enhanced by the contributions of electric guitarist William Seiji Marsh and cellist Caleigh Drane.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new release and its upcoming singles.
