Gujarat Police have apprehended a man from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the gruesome murder of his friend, who was dismembered into nine pieces. The shocking crime emerged when it was revealed that the victim had been blackmailing the accused over private photos of his wife.
The accused, identified as Shailendra, was arrested four days after dismembered body parts were discovered in various locations across Bharuch. During interrogation, Shailendra confessed to murdering his friend, Sachin, in a bid to prevent his identification after the horrifying act.
The investigation kicked off on March 29 with the discovery of a severed head in a drain. Over the following days, additional body parts were recovered, leading authorities to identify the victim as Sachin Chauhan, who had a tattoo on his hand. Sachin, originally from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, was married and worked in Dahej, Bharuch, and was living alone with Shailendra while their families were away for the Holi festival.
Police launched a search after receiving a missing person report for Sachin on March 28. A confirmation of identity came after examination of the body parts, which matched Sachin’s description. Investigators soon linked Sachin’s last known whereabouts to Shailendra.
Further inquiries uncovered that Shailendra had traveled to Bijnor and Delhi using Sachin’s phone, even sending messages to Sachin’s family to create the illusion that he was still alive. He attempted to mislead authorities by leaving Sachin’s ATM card, complete with PIN, on a train.
In an alarming twist, Shailendra resorted to disguising himself as a woman to dispose of the body parts, but police efforts led to his capture. Upon his arrest, he revealed that the murder followed an intense argument over the blackmail stemming from the private photos. After killing Sachin during a night of drinking, he kept the dismembered body in his home for three days before discarding it to evade detection.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, CK Patel, confirmed the arrest and the nature of the crime, stating, “A dismembered body was found in Bharuch. After investigation, we arrested Shailendra for committing the crime.” The case has sent shockwaves through the community as authorities continue to unravel the details surrounding this disturbing incident.
