The upcoming “Home for Thais” housing project aims to benefit low-income individuals and recent graduates, with registration starting on January 20. Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit announced the details on Monday.
An exhibition showcasing model homes will take place at the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal in Bangkok on Friday, prior to the registration launch.
During a cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra confirmed the government’s commitment to funding a study for housing developments near potential railway stations nationwide, as proposed by the Ministry of Transport.
This initiative seeks to provide affordable housing options for those just beginning their careers.
The government intends to pilot the project in four locations adjacent to mass transit lines.
The first site will be in the Bang Sue Km 11 area, offering 1,232 condominium units across a 15-rai plot. It is located on Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 11, approximately 2.5 kilometers from the central train station and 500 meters from the Central Ladprao and Phahon Yothin MRT stations. Units will be priced starting from 1.76 million baht for a 30 square meter unit, with larger sizes reaching up to 3 million baht for 50 square meters.
In the Thon Buri area, 2,100 units will be available on a 23-rai plot near Sala Namron Market and 800 meters from the MRT stations on the Red and Orange Lines.
The Chiang Rak district will host 1,795 units on an 18-rai site, located about 4.4 kilometers from Thammasat University (Rangsit Campus) and 9 kilometers from Bangkok University. Each unit in this area is estimated at 1.34 million baht.
Finally, in Chiang Mai, the project aims to provide 720 units on a 17-rai plot situated near Charoen Mueang and Thung Hotel roads, approximately 7.5 kilometers from Chiang Mai University. Each unit here will cost around 1.5 million baht.
To qualify, applicants must be Thai nationals, at least 20 years of age, with a monthly income not exceeding 50,000 baht and no prior ownership of residential property.
