Jakarta – The government, through the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment, has issued a call for individuals returning to major cities, particularly Jakarta, to enhance their readiness and innovation to avoid contributing to urban challenges.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, underlined the significance of preparation for those choosing to migrate to the capital.
“We urge anyone relocating to Jakarta to come fully prepared. It’s essential to possess innovative skills,” the minister stated.
He emphasized that newcomers should aim to contribute positively to the economy rather than becoming an additional burden on urban areas.
Thus, acquiring skills and fostering innovation are vital for those seeking opportunities in the capital.
Meanwhile, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of Indonesia, remarked on the annual post-Eid urban migration trend.
He acknowledged that while the migration from rural areas to cities is a natural process, it necessitates adequate preparation.
“It is encouraging that this year’s Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr were effectively managed, leading to controlled homecoming traffic. It is a normal aspiration for individuals to seek improved opportunities in the capital,” he stated.
However, he reminded both returning and newly arrived residents of Jakarta to be responsible citizens and adapt to their new environments.
The government is also encouraged to strengthen policies focused on reducing unemployment, particularly in urban centers.
