Tragedy struck early Saturday morning as a fire engulfed a four-storey commercial building in the Muang district of Suphan Buri province, resulting in the death of four family members.
The blaze, reported to authorities at approximately 5 AM, prompted a swift response from fire crews in the Muang Suphan Buri Municipality, who took nearly two hours to bring the flames under control.
Flammable materials stored within the building, including hardware, construction supplies, electrical equipment, and paint, significantly hampered firefighting efforts.
The deceased were identified as Pusit Rungrojchaiyaporn, 52, a former district council member; his wife Kanokwan, 49; their son Tewarat, 26; and their daughter Warasiri, 24.
Mayor Ekaphan Injai-euar reported that as firefighters gained access to the building, they discovered three victims on the third floor and another in the second-floor stairwell.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, with initial assessments suggesting the family was unable to escape in time.
