Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur emphasizes the necessity for the Scuderia to maximize the performance of their 2025 car ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. Following a challenging start to the season, which included a disheartening double disqualification in China, Ferrari currently finds itself fifth in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing leaders McLaren by 61 points.
The SF-25 car has shown glimpses of promise, notably with Lewis Hamilton securing pole position and winning the Sprint race in Shanghai. However, inconsistencies remain, as both Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc have yet to finish in the top four during full-length Grand Prix races. “It is crucial for us to focus on what we can control and enable our drivers to utilize the full potential of the SF-25,” Vasseur stated in the lead-up to Suzuka.
With Ferrari’s tally reduced to just 17 points after losing 18 points from their original finishes, they stand at risk of their worst start since 2009, currently placing behind Williams based on results countback.
The upcoming Japanese Grand Prix presents a critical opportunity for the Scuderia. Vasseur notes, “Formula 1 intricacies demand attention to detail from preparation to on-track execution, especially under changing race conditions. Only then can we gauge our true standing.”
As the team prepares for this pivotal weekend, Vasseur’s comments reflect the urgency for a strong response after what has been labeled a disastrous opening to the season. Hamilton’s performance and the team’s overall direction will be watched closely as they seek to regain their competitive edge.
The Japanese Grand Prix will take place at the renowned Suzuka Circuit from April 4-6, marking a vital demonstration of Ferrari’s potential to rebound in the highly competitive landscape of Formula 1.
