The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing related to farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hospitalization until January 2, 2025, following an order from the Punjab government.
The Punjab government reports ongoing negotiations with protesting farmers while working to facilitate Mr. Dallewal’s transfer to a hospital.
The state has requested an additional three days from the Supreme Court to fulfill its directive regarding Mr. Dallewal’s hospitalization.
As Mr. Dallewal’s indefinite hunger strike entered its 36th day on Tuesday, a state government team led by former additional DGP Jaskaran Singh made multiple attempts to persuade him to seek medical assistance, but he has consistently declined.
Previously, the Supreme Court had provided the Punjab government until December 31 to convince Mr. Dallewal to accept medical care, allowing the state to seek logistical support from the central government if required.
