Nellore officials interact with the parents of the deceased student, Guru Mahendra, on July 30.
On July 30, Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, alongside Nellore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Surya Teja, provided a cheque of ₹5 lakh as ex gratia to the grieving parents of 14-year-old Guru Mahendra. The tragic incident occurred while the child was playing at KNR Municipal High School last week.
MLA Sridhar Reddy expressed his commitment to support the family further, promising to facilitate a house site from the state government. He assured that strict measures would be implemented if any negligence was uncovered in the investigation.
Guru Mahendra tragically lost his life after falling from an under-construction building located on the school grounds. In response, District Education Officer P.V.J. Rama Rao has initiated a probe, with District Collector O. Anand indicating appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
Initially, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana was set to present the financial aid to the family. However, due to his absence in Nellore, MLA Sridhar Reddy stepped in to deliver the cheque directly to the victims’ family.
