A deadly explosion rocked a firecracker factory in Kovilpulikuthi, Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, resulting in extensive damage to multiple manufacturing units and injuring seven individuals. Tragically, a woman named Ramalakshmi lost her life due to the accident.
The incident took place at Sathyaprabha Firecracker Manufacturer, owned by Mohanraj, where hundreds of workers engage in various production processes, including chemical mixing, drying, and packaging. Officials suggest that the blast occurred during the preparation of fancy crackers, generating a shockwave felt kilometers away and leaving several factory units in ruins.
Among the injured, six women were among those affected, and they were promptly transported to the Virudhunagar Government Hospital. Unfortunately, one woman succumbed to her injuries, while the others continue to receive critical medical care.
Fire and Rescue teams from Sathur and Sivakasi were swiftly deployed to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent areas.
The local police have initiated an investigation into the explosion, scrutinizing the safety protocols maintained at the facility to uncover the causes behind this tragic event.
