Adrián Mauricio ‘N’, former Public Safety Director of Nicolás Romero, was arrested in Michoacán on January 10 during the Enjambre Operation taking place in the State of Mexico. Reports indicate that the ex-official had been wanted since April 2024 for alleged involvement in express kidnapping for robbery.
The Michoacán Attorney General’s Office confirmed a warrant was issued by the Control Judge of the State of Mexico for the crime of express kidnapping, specifically for unlawfully depriving another person of their freedom to facilitate the crime of robbery, with aggravating factors involving members of a Public Safety institution.

As of now, a judge has ordered preventive detention, meaning Mauricio will remain incarcerated as the judicial proceedings unfold.
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST EX-SECURITY DIRECTOR
National news reports revealed details surrounding the circumstances leading to the arrest.
On January 4, 2024, it is alleged that Adrián and twelve other security personnel went to the ’29 de junio’ market in Nicolás Romero. The account suggests that he apprehended a woman and two men selling tactical clothing, holding them for three hours and depriving them of their liberty.
Additionally, 8,000 pesos purportedly earned from sales that day were stolen from the victims.

To secure the release of the three individuals, the authorities reportedly demanded a payment of 10,000 pesos. In response, Mauricio has claimed his innocence, asserting that he had no involvement in the alleged express kidnapping.
